The official Twitter account of Shigeyoshi Tsukahara and Twiflooriginal anime project Kurayukaba began airing a full trailer for the “opening chapter” on Friday. The trailer gives a preview of the characters’ voices, featuring Raiko Sakamoto like Inarizaka. The cast also includes Matsunojō Kanda like Sōtarō, Tomoyo kurosawa like Tanné, YÅ« Serizawa like Saki.

Staff previously announced that the feature film’s “opening chapter” has ended. The “opening chapter”, the previous pilot film and the documentary video of the cast’s dialogue recording sessions will be screened at the Cine Libre Ikebukuro theater in Tokyo from August 13 to 26, with the director Shigeyoshi Tsukahara‘s four shorts earlier.

There will be a welcome on stage after the 6.30 p.m. screening on August 13 at the Cine Libre Ikebukuro Theater in Tokyo. Director Shigeyoshi Tsukahara and Doubler Kanda will appear to discuss the project.

Professional storyteller Kanda will play the main character Sōtarō, who pursues the mystery of the mass disappearance in the deep underworld.

Dual motorMotion Gallery’s official crowdfunding campaign for the film was launched in April 2020 and aimed to raise 20 million yen (approximately US $ 188,000) before it ends in August 2020. The campaign raised 8,798,500 yen (approximately US $ 79,513).

This crowdfunding campaign was intended to finance a film of more than 40 minutes. Tsukahara (“The traveling man with the brocade portrait”, “Joseito”, “Hashi no Mukou”, SEKAI NO OWARI the animation sequences and set design of the rock band in concert) made his feature film directorial debut with the anime at Makaria, and he is also credited for the original story and screenplay. Kazunori Minagawa (animation director on Macross Delta, Tokyo crows, Yuruyuri, Code Geass: Akito the Exiled) designs the characters, and Ryo-timo (Yozakura Quartet) is credited as a special presenter.

Artist maxcaffy manages CG and serves as director of photography. Pochi is in charge of the artistic staging and the original sets. The “design work” staff members are Chuta Akatsuki, Keeze, Takeshi Ishikawa, Kazunoko, Kitsuneiro, Kahi and Shie Nanahara. Akatsuki also composes the music.

The project’s previous crowdfunding campaign, which ran from December 2018 to February 2019, funded the pilot film. The campaign raised 6,901,864 yen (approximately US $ 63,000) from 397 backers: 276% of its goal of 2,500,000 yen (approximately US $ 22,100). The campaign met its goal of 4,000,000 yen (approximately US $ 35,300) to create a one-minute video (the original goal was a 30-second video).

Twiflo describes the anime:

Our story takes place beneath the surface of the great metropolis, beneath the city district of Ogi in a realm of dreams that floats in a haze of purple lignite smoke.

A network of roads stretches underground, hiding bandits at every turn! An armored train winds its way through looming darkness: the Sokore 463 armored train is equipped with a 75mm mountain cannon that can detonate a target to smithereens! At the controls is the mysterious girl Tanne.

What awaits her and her comrades? From the winding alleys of Akegata (dawn) to the deep underworld of Kuragari (darkness), a daring adventure unfolds!

The project was presented at the 2018 Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2018.

Project news by Ryohgo Narita (Durarara !!, Baccano!) will be available to those who have supported the project at the “Rental Shop” level (12,000 yen, or about US $ 110). The novel centers on Kagari, the daughter of the “garden spinner” who works in a mapping and information service in the labyrinthine and ever-changing capital. She and her colleague are involved in a conspiracy.
