Pep Guardiola shows inconclusive Covid result days after trip to Barcelona to see Aguero

Manchester City canceled their press conference after Pep Guardiola returned an inconclusive Covid-19 test.
Guardiola was due to face the press as part of his routine media duties ahead of the trip to face Newcastle on Sunday.
He has not been back from Barcelona for a long time, where he traveled to be able to be with former player Sergio Aguero for his retirement announcement earlier this week.
The city manager is now taking another test to determine if he is positive.
If so, he will be out not only this weekend but also for the Boxing Day game against Leicester at the Etihad.

The 10-day self-isolation period as per government guidelines would only allow him to return for the next game at Brentford.
City have announced that assistant manager Juanma Lillo will speak to the club media about Newcastle’s game if Guardiola is positive.
So it looks like Lillo is the man to take charge the next two weekends too.

As it stands, the game against the Magpies will not join the growing list of Premier League postponements.
The next round of matches has been badly affected, with five of the 10 matches already canceled.
There have been outbreaks in Man United, Brentford, Watford, Norwich and Leicester.
Their respective games against Brighton, Southampton, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Everton have all been postponed as a result.

Guardiola made the decision to travel to Spain this week with City sporting director Txiki Begiristain and coach Lorenzo Buenaventura.
He was there to support Aguero alongside another former player of his current Barca head coach Xavi.
If Guardiola returns a negative PCR test then it will be good to do some media work and travel with his team to St James’ Park.
