Wonderland Spiegeltent offers circus, comedy, burlesque and music by the sea
Wonderland Spiegeltent returns with more than a month of circus, cabaret, comedy, burlesque, music and family by the sea.
Providing world-class entertainment in an enchanting vintage structure, Wonderland Spiegeltent will once again settle on the Barwon Heads foreshore with its spectacular live entertainment program from December 26, 2021 to January 30, 2022.
A favorite among locals year after year, the beautiful nostalgic 1930s wooden traveling European circus tent will host performances of all kinds, from children’s shows and live music to scorching cabarets and circus extravagance. Filled with sparkling, thrilling, spellbinding and heartwarming entertainment and inviting audiences to step back in time and rediscover the magic of the golden age of circus and traveling entertainment, glitz and glamor flow outside with Spiegeltent surrounded by carnival-style rides, a food van and a garden bar, to keep the party going.

In view of this year’s program, the event promises to be an artistic playground and entertainment for all. For families, Circus in Wonderland returns with a heartwarming hour of spectacle, fun and fantasy. A fascinating cast of world-class circus acrobats, who always manage to deliver hilarious and exciting circus entertainment for all ages, will keep everyone on the edge of their seats as they present a magical adventure in the land of the hilarious and exciting wonders for the whole family.
For those who love their cabaret, Delicious: selects will return to Barwon Heads, taking YUMMY’s acclaimed debut show to a whole new level, including all audience favorites and all-new surprises. The feature film will feature highly choreographed dance numbers as well as funny, surreal and heartwarming performances from a whos-who of widely acclaimed drag artists. It is a show full of energy that celebrates the feminine in all its forms and which will take place from Tuesday January 4 to Saturday January 8.
Combining circus and comedy in a celebration of spandex, neon and acrobatics, Work it is a brand new high-energy late-night acrobatic comedy. Created by Melbourne Fringe favorites Circus Trick Tease, the team includes some of Australia’s most prominent acrobats, including hula hoop sensation Lisa Lottie, versatile acrobat Richard Sullivan, award-winning Vincent van Berkel, the real strong woman Cassia Jamieson and the circus the extraordinary Malia Walsh. Together, the over-the-top ensemble will fight their way into a feverish dream of Aerobics Oz Style, delivering a riot of color and movement with more daring and swagger than a TLC music video.
If you’re looking for another laugh, Karen from Finance Is Out Of Office is a must-have. Starring drag queen Karen From Finance (from ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under’), this one-woman show is packed with all of her hilarious and hilarious mashups, plus all the nonsense you can push a presentation pointer to. A journey of self-discovery… and self-annihilation, there is only one show to discover on Friday January 28th.

For the first time on Thursday January 6, Joe Camilleri & The Black Sorrows will take the stage to celebrate the September release of their 19th studio album – and Joe’s 50th album – Route de Saint-Georges. As one of Australia’s most prolific and popular bands, Joe Camilleri & The Black Sorrows are renowned for their energetic concerts, musicality, and infectious, rootsy beats. Camilleri has been at the forefront of Australian music for decades as frontman of Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons and The Black Sorrows, and author of the radio anthems Hit & Run, Shape I’m In, Chained To The Wheel, Harley & Rose & Never let me go. In this one-night-only performance, you’ll see Joe and The Black Sorrows in mid-flight perform classic soul, blues and country hits that span Camilleri’s multi-platinum career as well as a selection of Route of Saint-Georges.
If spending the evening with an Australian soul song legend tickles you, meet up on Saturday January 29 when award-winning Multi ARIA artist Kate Ceberano hits town. Having been in the business for over 35 years – writing and performing both jazz and pop music – with several Platinum and Gold albums to her name, Kate’s hard work, craftsmanship and vision are now firmly established. in our collective DNA. Kate Ceberano is a true national treasure, possessing one of the great voices of her generation – it will be a night of nights to end the Wonderland Spiegeltent season.
There will also be performances by Melbourne country-pop group Darlinghurst on January 9, award-winning Australian artist Fanny Lumsden on January 14, extraordinary funk, flute, sax, synth and groove group Vaudeville Smash on January 21, INXSIVE, the INXS Tribute Show on January 22, the one and only Ella Hooper on January 23 and The Big Bash Band on January 25.
Wonderland Spiegeltent shows often come with a word of warning – it’s a little sassy, most definitely fun and once you’ve experienced it, it’s a bohemian love story you’ll never forget. For us this seems like the perfect way to spend a summer in Barwon Heads.
